To the Ends of the Earth

Blessed. It’s who we are, what we have, and how we are meant to live.

From Genesis to Revelation blessings are promised and woven throughout the lives of God’s people. It’s a story that reaches to the ends of the earth. No matter who we are or where we are, God knows how to reach us with His goodness.

Even on life’s roughest roads, we still have the opportunity to enjoy God and all the good that He gives. It’s part of Jesus’ plan for life and life more abundantly. Like all good plans, it comes with a purpose. The Psalmist put it like this,

God be gracious to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us – that Thy way may be known on the earth, Thy salvation among all the nations. (Pss. 67:1, 2)

God blesses us because He loves us. He marks us with His love, goodness, generosity, and joy. He makes His grace evident through our lives that His salvation will spread to all the nations.

What if every morning this next week, you and I prayed this simple prayer:

God be gracious to me,
Bless me,
Make Your face shine on me –
That YOU will be made known today!

What if each day we were more intentional to recognize God’s goodness and thank Him? A home. Food to eat. Water to drink. Protection. Provision. People to love. Peace. Pleasure. (Fill in the blanks….) If it’s good, let’s be mindful to say, Thank you God for blessing me!

The Palmist tells us the extended purpose of God’s blessings in our lives: “God blesses us, that all the ends of the earth may fear Him” (Ps. 67:7).

We are blessed with a purpose—to let people know that there is a God who loves them, who longs to give good to them.

God’s goodness points the way to Jesus. Everyday as walk with Him, we point the way to the One who is the way – that all the ends of the earth may know Him.
